Supporting Growth in Behaviour Support

Media Release (August 2023)

With the demand for disAbility Living’s Behavioural Support services increasing, DLi is excited to announce it is partnering with the Can:Do Group and from 1 September, will occupy two (2) new consulting rooms within the Can:Do South facility.

Based within the Colonnades Shopping Centre in Noarlunga, Can:Do South is a state-of-the-art community space with consulting rooms, therapy rooms, training rooms, a tech hub, a play gym and climbing wall, a training kitchen, laundry and a whole range of other activity spaces and facilities designed to support people with disability.

When speaking with DLi’s General Manager of Client Services, Kate Johnson, she said,

“The leasing of the two dedicated consulting rooms within Can:Do South will help us fulfil our commitment to our current Behaviour Support waitlist and grow one of our most requested services. The growth of our services will also provide even more career opportunities for future Developmental Educators who require Student Placement or who graduate from Flinders University and are seeking employment with DLi. We are very excited to partner with Can:Do to provide convenient and accessible options for clients located in the south of Adelaide”.

Initially, DLi will have two of our Developmental Educators offering services from the facility. DLi’s Specialist Behaviour Support Practice Lead Megan, delivers specialised support focusing on working with young adults, people with Schizophrenia, people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and working with young people transitioning out of care. Developmental Educator, Stefania, delivers specialised support based on her experience working with adults, people with dementia, and people living in aged care.  While Megan and Stefania will be the first of our practitioners operating from our new southern service, all of DLi’s registered Behaviour Support practitioners will be able to provide services from the site.

Megan and Stefania are registered Behaviour Support Practitioners with the NDIS Commission and qualified Developmental Educators with Developmental Educators Australia Inc (DEAI). For a complete bio on DLi’s practitioners, visit dli.org.au/behaviour-support-services

DLi will continue to grow the Behaviour Support team based in Noarlunga and encourage suitably qualified persons to reach out for a confidential discussion if they are interested in opportunities to join DLi.
